Six-Sentence Sunday (Sept. 9, 2012)

Excerpt from THE JAGUAR LEGACY (Charley meets her first feline at the archaeological dig):

Charley reached out to scratch the cat’s head.

“Don’t touch him,” Kincaid warned, shifting the animal to prevent him from taking her hand off. “He tolerates nobody except me, and even then, it helps if there’s a can of tuna involved.” He eyed her, thinking of all the headaches she’d caused. “On second thought, perhaps I should let him take a chunk out of your hide.”

Ignoring Kincaid, she rubbed the cat’s head while crooning, “Aren’t you the lovely boy?”
